A week ago, Google announced the latest version of Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich (v4.0) and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first Android phone to feature it. Google has already purchased the part of Motorola Mobility, so we can guess that the new Android version should be porting to all the Moto devices officially. It has been already confirmed that bot Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid Bionic will be getting upgraded to the latest version of Android 4.0. Now how about some Ice Cream Sandwich love for Motorola Xoom? Will the Moto Xoom get Ice Cream Sandwich?” Yes! Moto will upgrade their first ever tablet Motorola Xoom with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The confirmation below from Motorola’s source is exactly what you all Xoom owners wanted to see.
Matt, the Forums Manager from Motorola Owners’ Forums has stated that:
I don’t know anything about if it will be first or not – have no insight into how other manufacturers do updates – but XOOM will get ICS. I just don’t have any timing to share.
As you know, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform is built on top of Honeycomb, rather than Gingerbread, and Google has stated the plan of unifying the Android experience on both phones and tablets. Google has made massive changes in Android 4.0 ICS making it more exciting. Hopefully, Moto will get to working on ICS for Xoom once Google releases source. So which tablet will get ICS first? Motorola Xoom or Asus Eee Pad Transformer? Asus has already officially informed owners and the buyers of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer that they will have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Announcement on dates of ICS for Transformer are expected in the beginning of November.
