Barnes & Noble is going to announce has announced the Nook Tablet on Monday. Yes, it’s not a e-Reader device, it’s a new tablet. We can say that it’s just an upgraded Nook Color, which is will cost you $249.99 only. Recently unveiled Amazon Kindle Fire is a direct competition for the Nook Tablet, which will cost you just $199.99. That is $50 cheaper than the Nook Tablet and that means a comparison is in order. So, if you’re willing to buy a tablet in this holiday season and don’t want to break the $200 tag, which device is a perfect choice for you? I want to get you in the right place for this specs comparison chart that we put together here. In the pure specs comparison, though, the Nook Tablet comes slightly ahead. Yes, the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet has slightly better specs on paper. But, you need to know Amazon’s value proposition for Kindle Fire and other great feature that are recommending by Amazon. I should point out that most of the Nook Tablet information is not “official” yet, although we are pretty sure almost all of it and it will match up to what Barnes & Noble unveils on Monday.

Bothe the Amazon Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet got 7-inch touchscreen display with 169 pixels per inch. The resolution on that screen is 1024 x 600 pixel, same as on RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook. The processor in the Nook Tablet is a TI OMAP 1.2GHz dual-core processor, while Amazon Kindle Fire has got 1GHz dual-core processor by the same Texas Instruments. Nook Tablet is also beating the Kindle Fire in RAM and memory storage areas. Nook Tablet has got 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, but the Amazon Kindle Fire comes with 512MB RAM and 8GB of built-in storage. Nook Tablet has got the support for expandable storage up to 32GB, but the Kindle Fire does not have an SD card slot. Both devices are lacking cameras.

Amazon kindle Fire has got deep ecosystem and a highly-customized build of Android. The version of Android is v2.3 Gingerbread. The Android version of the Nook Tablet is not known yet, which is totally custom. The Nook tablet also promises around 8 hours of battery life, or 9 hours of watching videos. Amazon Kindle Fire’s battery is rated for up to 8 hours of continuous reading or 7.5 hours of video playback, with the Wi-Fi turned off.

Here comes the main part of the competition. Nook Tablet will rock HD movies, TV shows and music from Netflix, Hulu Plus and Pandora. You will also get more magazines and comics as well as access to music via services like Rhapsody, Grooveshark, Pandora and MOG. It also supports “Always Free Nook Support In-Store” service.

Amazon Kindle Fire includes the Amazon App Store, which has 10,000 applications – a free app every day, including popular games like Angry Birds, utilities like The Weather Channel, as well as the device is linked with the Kindle store, and has a browser called, Silk, described as a “lightning-fast web browser” running on Amazon’s EC2 cloud computing engine to improve browsing performance. Recently, Amazon has also got a deal with DC Comics for the exclusive digital rights to a hundred popular graphic novels.
