Well folks, Barnes & Noble has finally launched its first ever tablet device, the Nook Tablet at the company’s launch event in NYC. The device is going head-to-head with Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet and it will compete with it across all areas. Barnes & Noble has responded to the $199 Amazon Kindle Fire by beating all the key points of the Kindle Fire.
While the exterior design hasn’t changed a bit, Nook Tablet runs customized version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, comes with a 7-inch VividView IPS display delivering 1024 X 600 pixel resolution with 180-degree viewing angles, powered by a 1GHz TI OMAP dual-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The tablet offers 1080p HD video playback support, preloaded NetFlix (with deeper integration) and Hulu apps are on board for video content delivery service, a plentiful 16GB of internal storage along with a up-to 32GB memory expansion support via microSD card, 11.5 hours of reading time or 9 hours of video viewing, lightning-fast Web browsing and all other preloaded apps including Nook Newsstand, Nook Comics, Nook Kids.
Nook Tablet is also having lightning-fast Web browsing, 2.5 million books along with top 100 magazines and the largest collection of Marvel comics including free cloud storage with B&N’s Nook Cloud.
