Back in early September, Sony Ericsson (read it Sony) has officially announced that it will upgrade its entire 2011 Xperia handsets will be upgraded to will be updated to the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system and according to previous reports, the manufacturer was supposed to roll out the updates this March. But, we didn’t have any exact timeline when it will happen. Latest report from The Verge is suggesting that the refresh of the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS should be out in this spring for its devices. Along with Xperia handsets, Sony is also planning to bring Android ICS goodies for Sony Tablet P and S devices.
Sony will also introduce “some really cool unique bits” to make the Android ICS more appealing on its devices. Sony is currently testing both the Sony Tablet P and S with Android ICS porting on them. Just one month after its launch, the Sony Tablet S has managed to grab the highest market share with a 26% stake in October, beating other Android tablets.
The manufacturer has already outed the official Alpha Android 4.0 ICS ROM for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray handsets. SO, you can enjoy the early build of the Android ICS on the aforementioned Xperia handsets till the manufacturer set to roll out the ICS update to all its 2011 customers.
