If you’re one of the many eagerly awaiting Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich OS update for your Samsung Galaxy S II / Samsung Galaxy Note device, we’ve some good news for you. As previously announced, Samsung has again confirmed that Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note devices will be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS by the end of the first quarter of 2012. The information comes from Samsung Norway Facebook page. This statement from Samsung is meant for the international version of the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note handsets.
We still have to wait to hear an official word on when the U.S. versions of the Galaxy S II and Galaxy note device will be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS build officially. AT&T is yet to release its version of the Galaxy Note handset, which is due to hit the markets on February 19th for $299.99 with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board. Since the A&T branded Galaxy S II is the only handset equipped with NFC chipset under the hood, we’ve to see how the Android Beam functions will be ported for the Sprint and T-Mobile versions of the Galaxy S II handset, which are not having NFC functionality. Obviously, Sprint and T-Mobile versions will not support Android Beam functionality.
If out guess is right, Sprint branded Nexus S 4G handset should be upgraded Android 4.0 ICS build very soon. We already reported about leaked version of the official Android 4.0.4 ICS IMM26 build for the CDMA based Nexus S 4G handset.
