Acer has finally made an official statement regarding its plans to upgrade current tablets to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android version 4.0): Acer Iconia Tab A500 and Iconia Tab A100. Since last Sunday, Acer has started rolling out the Android 4.0.3 ICS update for the recently launched Acer Iconia Tab A200 tablet. Yesterday, Acer ANZ has confirmed that the Android ICS roll out will begin sometime in April for Acer Iconia Tab A500 tablets of the New Zealand and Australia regions.
Following the statement of Acer ANZ, today Acer America has tweeted that it will start upgrade the Acer Iconia Tab A500 to the latest and greatest version of the Android OS in mid-April. Acer America has also added another tablet, the Iconia Tab A100 to the list of the devices that will be upgraded to Android ICS. Acer Iconia Tab A100 will also get the update in mi-April timeframe. It’s really good to see the 7-inch A100 tablet finally getting the ice Cream Sandwich bump.
