The rumor mill has been going strong for a while with suggestions that search giant may may be working on a new 7-inch tablet to release it later on this year. Yes, Google is expected to enter the tablet market with an Android tablet that would compete with the most affordable $199 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. But, today a new rumor has surfaced online that Asus is prepping the first-ever Google Nexus tablet.
According to a report, Asus will be the official “OEM” to bring the first Google Nexus tablet and it will feature a 7-inch display (we believe it will have 1280 x 800 resolution) with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS filled on it. The unknown source is also claiming that it will be equipped with a quad-core processor under the hood and Asus’s “Pure Android” tablet will be priced for an affordable price tag of $199.99. Asus is rumored to start building the Nexus tablet in April and it could be available to purchase from sometime in June. Google I/O should be the prefect event to unveil this tablet on June 27th.
Earlier this year, Asus has already launched a 7-inch Transformer Mini tablet at CES 2012 event, which will hit markets for just $249.99 and it will feature an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor and will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
One more exciting news is that Google is also rumored to be working on a 10-inch edition of the Nexus tablet, which could be priced at $229.99. But we’ll have to wait and see.
