The latest version of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) update has commenced to roll out for the Sony Xperia Ion LTE. The LTE capable edition came with Android Gingerbread and a future update to Ice Cream Sandwich. Xperia Ion was launched this year to AT&T customers only but it was launched for international audience in June. It is one of the user approved Sony devices as it got good reviews for stability and 4G LTE capability. Recently, Sony Xperia CA revealed an Ice Cream Update that has been rolled out for Xperia pro, Xperia Mini and Xperia S. Now, Sony is keeping promise to roll out updates for majority of its devices in Canada.
The new firmware will update to version number 6.1.E.1.19 and the update has started in Hong Kong and Taiwan. The update is expected to roll out in other regions next week. This time, we have no knowledge about the firmware differences between the version of ICS and Xperia S and Xperia P. Gingerbread to ICS is really a big firmware update because it includes hundreds of features, a totally different architecture and lots of developments and changes.
Apart from this, Sony is giving to its customers a better performance to access data at faster speed. Sony Xperia Ion getting Android 4.0 ICS Update packed with Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon, a dual–core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and a complementary Adreno 220 graphics processor with 1 GB Ram will be a good combination. We’re hoping that the update fixes many of the performance and battery issues which has been a disadvantage to the Xperia ion device.
