Addressing the need for a larger tablet than the newly launched Nexus 7, Samsung and Google are reportedly working on a 10.1 inch Nexus. The screen will be the point of attraction for this device. As a reply to Apple the 10.1-inch tablet will feature higher pixel density than Apple’s third-generation iPad. The 2,560×1,600 display will have a PPI (pixels per inch) of about 299 but the 9.7-inch 2,048×1,536 Retina iPad has only 264 PPI.
Another important aspect of this device regarding marketing is that this device will be “co-branded”. that is Google and Samsung will both be promoting, advertising, and marketing this Nexus tablet.
This new rumor of Google’s entry into the high-end tablet sector comes as reports claiming that as many as 10 million iPad Minis being manufactured by Apple and Co. Many are expecting a low-cost 7.85-inch “iPad mini” tablet very soon.
The combined entry of these two industry giants will be seen as Apple rivalry by many. Killing the iPad individually may be difficult, but combined efforts will definitely create shockwaves in the iPad market.
If this rumors comes to be true than Apple needs to rethink of its strategies to take on the two.
