Verizon To Offer Samsung ATIV Odyssey for Free On Contract?

Verizon May Offer Samsung ATIV Odyssey for Free

A couple of days ago, we reported about the leaked press shot of the Samsung ATIV Odyssey handset, which is heading to Verizon network by the end of this year. According to the reports Verizon would be offering Samsung-made Windows Phone 8 handset for free.

Obviously, Verizon won’t announce the high-end spec’d Samsung ATIV S for fee. Moreover, ATIV S hasn’t been confirmed yet to launch on Verizon. In fact, Microsoft has announced Samsung Ativ Odyssey for Verizon during its Windows Phone 8 event, but there was no sign of any single press release from Verizon.

On the other side, Verizon CMO Tami Erwin confirmed that the carrier will have a Windows Phone 8 OS running handsets at three important price points, $200, $100 and $0.

Verizon branded HTC Windows Phone 8X costs $199, and the Nokia Lumia 822 will sell for $99.99 and it’s pretty clear that next edition of the WP8 model will be offered for free on a two year contract agreement. Samsung ATIV Odyssey is a low to mid range spec’d phone, and rumored to pack a 4-inch WVGA display, 5MP camera, 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, 8GB onboard storage with microSD card slot support.
