When it comes to Windows Phone 7.8 update, we don’t have any precise date for the update roll out process. Microsoft has first announced the update would be rolled out as soon as after the release of Windows Phone 8 handsets. In late November, the company has confirmed the update will be ready in early 2013. But, we’ve some good new for Nokia Lumia 800 owners today. According to the reports flooding in, Nokia seems to have started rolling out the much awaited Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Lumia 800 handsets.
The good folks over WP7.nl reported that the latest firmware upgrade includes 4 individual updates. Current OS version 7.10.8773 will first get bumped to 7.10.8779.8, then 7.10.8783, and finally it it will take you to 7.10.8783. It brings new boot screen, options to the live tiles on the homescreen, a number of additional improvement, live lock screen Bing wallpaper which dynamically changes everyday, call forwarding, call waiting, SMS options, ringtone editing functionality and many more. Check out the full list here. Users, who have already upgraded to WP7.8, reporting that that update also includes a new splash screen and a Xbox Live Tile.
So if you were looking to get a feel for Windows Phone 8 on your Lumia 800, this may be a place to start. In order to download it, you have t connect your handset to a PC and launch the Zune software and finish the upgrading process by following the required instructions provided. The update is currently hitting unlocked Lumia 800 editions and it may take a while for it to reach every user. As you all know, AT&T seems to be late to the update party. MSFT has yet to come forward and announce the WP7.8 update roll out details.
