Nokia has already confirmed Microsoft will roll out a firmware update for the Nokia Lumia 920 by the end of this month and it fixes random reboot issues, along with a set of exclusive features. It looks like the Finnish mobile maker is also prepping its own update for the Lumia 920, which will be bundled with the upcoming ‘Protico’ update. The update bumps the software version up to PR1.1 from the current OS version PR1.0 and it brings camera fixes for the device. Lumia 920 comes equipped with PureView camera technology along with Carl Zeiss lens, and optical image stabilisation (OIS), software enhancements that will let the user to take amazing shots in low light.
But, the users are reporting some issues with white balance and the lack of detail, sharpness in photographs that shot on good amounts of light. The upcoming update PR1.1 brings improved camera performance to the Lumia 920 handset. In the above image, you can see the photographs (placed above and below) taken with Lumia 920 PR1.0 (current firmware) and Lumia 920 PR1.1 (upcoming firmware). You can observe the photos taken with PR1.1 running Lumia 920 are crispier, sharper and much clear. Engadget believes that Nokia still needs to improve the while balance. But, the white balance in automatic mode will be much better after the update.
If you remember, earlier in August, Nokia has also rolled out a update for the Lumia 900 handset to improve camera performance from “lacking” to “rather nice” status.
The upcoming update will also bring other software enhancements, system stability and browser performance improvements, constant Wi-Fi connection, as well as Microsoft’s some exclusive features such as SMS Drafts, Call rejecting capability via SMS.
