Rejoice, Xperia T owners. It looks like Sony has a nice surprising Christmas gift for you. Sony was supposed to roll out the Jelly Bean update for its Xperia T handsets in February next year. According to the reports, Sony is already started seeding its Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean over-the-air update to select devices yesterday. Sonyviet.vn blog has also reported that the update is indeed rolling out now for the Xperia T (LT30p), which is an international version of the phone. Sony Xperia TL owners in United States can also finally breath a sigh of relief! The Jelly Bean is reportedly rolling out for the AT&T branded Xperia TL (LT30at) handsets.
The build version bumps up to 9.1.F.1.64. One thing worth mentioning is that the update brings much improved stock home launcher (with new version 5.1.S.0.0) with a new graphic for the app drawer and dock at the bottom side of the handset. You will have a maximum of seven home screens, not just five. Rest of the new features are including a new lock screen, Superior Auto mode on the camera and ClearAudio+ mode for better audio quality (both features borrowed from Xperia V). The new firmware is also carrying all the regular features of the Jelly Bean build – such as Google Now, Project Butter, enhanced notifications, improved speed and there’s a significant improvement in battery life.
It seems the rollout is only relishing limited availability for now, but hopefully it will hit all devices in the next days or weeks. In case you are an owner of the Xperia T LT30p/Xperia TL LT30at, just head to Settings –> select About Phone –> System updates and check is the update is available or not. You may be required to connect to proper Wi-Fi connection or have a solid LTE connection to speed things up. Or else, connect your handset to a PC and launch the Sony Update Tool to check for the update.
