Last week we had reported that the Acer Iconia B1-A71 had hit the FCC and is expected to be coming soon. At that time there was no information on its pricing. But now reports suggests that the Acer Tablets will be costing only $99.
We have been hearing rumors and talks that Acer is making a $99 tablet. Well this seems to be true with the new reports. WSJ reports, “Acer Inc. is planning to launch an Android tablet priced around US$99 early next year, a person with direct knowledge of the project, said.”
The tablet is expected to sport a 7-inch screen with a 1,024 x 600 display, Android 4.1.2 Jellybean, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and PowerVR SGX 531 GPU. The device has Wi-Fi connectivity but no cellular to cut the cost. As the device will be available for $99, the missing connectivity can be justified. But none of these specs are final till any word from Acer.
The release date of Acer Iconia B1 is not confirmed but it is expected to be unveiled at CES 2013 which is scheduled from January 8 to 11, 2013. As per the source, the talet should be coming early 2013, so we can expect it by February.
