Even though some analysts had presumed that RIM’s BlackBerry 10 mobile operating system could be Dead On Arrival (DOA) since the OS has an unfamiliar user interface, a lack of compatible technology, and a few software applications, RIM is planning to introduce its brand new operating system (that had already received the FIPS 140-2 certification) on January 30 along with its first two smartphones, the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry X10. Although the OS hasn’t been unveiled, three out of the top four US carriers have confirmed that they would carry RIM’s BlackBerry 10 smartphones.
In an interview at the Consumer Electronics Show, Lowell McAdam, chief executive of Verizon Communications stated that “We’re hopeful going to be a good device and we’ll carry it.” Another US carrier T-Mobile also confirmed that they are extremely optimistic that RIM’s product will be a successful one and they are extremely interested in it. AT&T handset executive Jeff Bradley also confirmed that they would carry BB10 device. But there is no word from Sprint carrier yet.
The BlackBerry 10 devices are currently being tested by around 150 carriers around the world which was quoted by RIM CMO Frank Boulben in an interview at CES 2013.
