Alleged Image of Samsung Galaxy S IV Leaked on Picasa; Could This Be Real?

Alleged Image of Samsung Galaxy S IV

We’ve seen seen plenty of leaks and rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S IV up until now, a phone rumored for likely launch at Samsung’s Unpacked event in U.S. in March. We first heard about it back on September 17th, and it’s been generating all manner of excitement ever since. The device’s model number is referred to as GT-I9500 and latest reports saying its internal codename is “Altius J” (means “higher” in Latin language). Samsung’s exec JK Shin has almost confirmed that the Galaxy S IV won’t be unveiled at MWC next month. It is set to be announced the end of March and will start shipping in mid-April.

Earlier this month, the phone was portrayed in a purported render with no physical home button (pictured below), but now a slightly different-looking hardware has turned up on Picasa (pictured above), labeled as a “Galaxy S IV GT-I9500 Product Image”. This image was posted (in a high resolution of 2000 x 3000) back on December 27th 2012, by a student from Hong Kong, who doesn’t seems to have any connection with Samsung insiders.

It resembles the Galaxy S III, and you can observe a less rounded top and bottom, home button, and a thinner bezel. Unlike the previously leaked render, this is image is showing off differences with camera and sensor placement, and the position and sizes of the volume and power buttons.

If you need a rumored specs refresher, the reports claim the device will come equipped with a larger 5-inch Super AMOLED Full HD screen of 1080p resolution, Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, a 13MP camera, 2GB RAM, 2,600mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities via a separate dock and back cover. That means the device will not sport a unibody design and it has got a substantial improvement over the S III’s 2,100mAh battery. The phone is also expected to be available in black and white color options. Of course, the other colored editions will be released later.

The Galaxy S IV is also rumored to have S-Pen capabilities, which would make the device worthy of all this buzz, so we do hope that Sammy has been working on some additional improvements for the Galaxy S IV over the yesteryear’s GSIII. Stay tuned for more details.
