ZTE has announced its strategic collaboration with Intel to introduce smartphones powered by Intel’s Atom Z2580 Processor which was announced at the Mobile World Congress 2013 event in New York.

The Intel Atom Z2580 CPU is clocked at 2GHz which is faster than the previous Intel Atom chipset Z2460 (clocked at 1.6GHz) which is packed on the ZTE Grand X IN. It is the first smartphone from ZTE powered by Intel chipset. The Z2580 uses Intel’s hyper-threading technology, which means that dual-core combined with hyper-threading technology allows for more parallel multi-tasking.

ZTE is currently working with Intel to develop unique smartphones based on the Intel Atom Z2580 processor. The inclusion of the processor in its upcoming smartphones will give significant performance enhancements. It is further expected that it may deliver up to 3 times better graphics capabilities over its predecessor, Atom Z2460 chipset while delivering the same competitive battery life.

“We are looking forward to both continuing and broadening the relationship with Intel to support ZTE’s growth in the high performance smartphone market segment. Intel is one of our strategic partners in the development of cutting-edge new mobile technologies.” said Mr. Ao Wen, General Manager of ZTE Europe Mobile Devices.

ZTE is already preparing to introduce a new smartphone called the ZTE One powered by latest Mozilla Firefox mobile operating system.

But there is no further report about the names and specs of the upcoming smartphones. We’ll keep you updated.
