Galaxy S22 Series Getting One UI 5 with Android 13 This Month

Finally, Samsung has good news for the fans of Galaxy handsets and Android 13 enthusiasts, as One UI 5.0 is going to leave the beta phase behind to roll out for the Galaxy S22 series. At its Developer Conference 2022, the Korean manufacturer has confirmed that they will start distributing the One UI 5 and Android 13 to the Galaxy S22 series by the end of this month. That means the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones will be the first Samsung phones to get the latest Android 13 OS based One UI 5.0 upgrade.

The One UI 5.0 beta program began in early-August for the Galaxy S22 lineup in select markets. So far, Samsung has released four beta firmware updates based on One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22 series till now. There could be another beta version coming on the way before the beta program comes to an end and the final stable public version rolls out to the masses.

Samsung has been working on a few of its own changes to its own One UI platform on top of Google’s Android 13. One UI 5.0 brings simpler app icons, improved widget stacking, refined notifications, and a new pop-up call display, new multitasking gestures – you can double swipe from the bottom for quick split-screen and swipe from the top right corner for pop-up view. It also gets you deeper Material You integration, improved Dynamic theming and a new Dynamic lock screen. There will be text recognition in the Gallery, a Privacy Hub, and multi-user support for the first time on Samsung.

One UI 5.0 lets you create customized settings for sleeping, relaxing, exercising, and driving. There will be a new connected devices’ menu with options like Quick Share, Smart View, and Samsung DeX, a security and privacy dashboard. It also gets the new Video Wallpaper from the Lockstar of the Good Lock app, a combined security and privacy dashboard – Samsung will notify you when a picture you’re sharing might have personal information within.

One UI 5.0 also brings Samsung’s very own Bixby Text Call feature, which can automatically answer phone calls by typing a message. Bixby converts text to audio and share it to the caller. Bixby also shows what the caller is saying by converting their voice to text. That’s it. The Korean tech giant is said to be planning to bring the One UI 5.0 for a bunch of Galaxy devices by the end of this year. The list includes Galaxy Z Fold 4, Flip 4, and Galaxy S21, and a couple of mid-range handsets like Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A53.
