Honor 80 Pro with flat screen shows up on real life photos

The Honor 80 series has four smartphones in total, and the Honor 80 Pro with curved-edge OLED screen is one of them, which was launched in November in China. It was supposed to got for sale along with the Honor 80 GT, but it didn’t happen. It looks like a fifth member will also be added to the Honor 80 series. Sources are telling this handset will also be named “Honor 80 Pro,” but with a flat/straight display.

A couple of days ago, a bunch of press renders of this version has leaked online. It’s about time we finally see the Honor 80 Pro flat screen version show up on live photos. The new photo reveals that in terms of design, this device is basically the same as the standard version. The only difference seems to be the flat screen with a selfie camera inside the punch hole, but has the same camera and back design as the standard version.

Real-life photos appeared on Weibo, posted by a Weibo tech blogger 厂长是关同学, who reveals that this upcoming device will look very similar to the standard Honor 80 Pro with curved screen when it comes to the back of the device.

Rumored specs of Honor 80 Pro with flat screen

  • 6.67” OLED screen with a Full HD+ resolution (2400x1080px), 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits peak brightness, 1920Hz PWM dimming
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, composed of a 3.0GHz super large core, three 2.5GHz large cores and a 1.8GHz small core
  • Adreno 730 GPU
  • Rear cameras: 160 MP main camera and 2MP depth sensor, 8MP the ultra-wide-angle camera
  • Front camera: 32MP shooter
  • Under-display fingerprint scanner
  • 4,800 mAh battery and 66W charging speeds
  • 7.9mm thickness, dual speakers

According to the aforementioned specs, the flat screen version will be comparing against the standard version in camera department. The front of the flat screen version will have a single 32MP camera, compared to the 50MP + 2MP in the standard Honor 80 Pro with curved screen. On the rear also, instead of 50MP on the original 80 Pro, the ultra-wide-angle camera rumored to be downgraded to 8MP resolution on the flat screen version.

The flat version is expected to arrive in China in early January. But there is a small twist that the flat version will be only for the offline market and won’t be available on the Honor website.
