Google’s upcoming Pixel 7a has leaked a couple of times over the past few months. The device is rumored to arrive at I/O 2023 in May, but a hands-on video popped up a bit early from a private Pixel fan Vietnamese Facebook group, and then spread to Twitter, revealing a few details about its display.
Thanks to that Pixel 7a hands on video, which confirms the handset’s design language and refresh rate of the display for real. You can see the Pixel 7 was captured running in Vietnamese software interface. The design doesn’t seem to have changed anything compared to its predecessor, and carries the same design language. It’s a rather short video, showing us the phone’s backside, and can confirm it mimics the Pixel 7 family’s appearance.
The Pixel 6a was launched in May 2022, which had a refresh rate of 60Hz. This hands-on video confirms the Pixel 7a will get a bump in that department. It supports up to a refresh rate of 90Hz, making it an official first for the Pixel A lineup. The video shows display preferences reveal “Smooth Display” and how refresh rate can automatically adjust from 60Hz to 90Hz. Just like its predecessor, the Pixel 7a’s display has also got a centered punch hole cutout that accommodates a front facing camera for selfies and video calling. The display has symmetrical and thick borders around it. The video doesn’t explain in depth all the neat features of the phone, as well as the most important specifications.

According to previous reports, the Pixel 7a is rumored to pack a 50 megapixel Samsung GN1 sensor on the back side, and it also supports wireless charging at 5W speeds. It is also expected to be the first Google Tensor handset to have a Qualcomm Wi-Fi Bluetooth chip, code-named as WCN6740. Dimensions of the device will be 152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0 mm
