Google has just unveiled a new version of the tablet specific OS – Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS at Google I/O conference 2011, and that’s a major update to Honeycomb. Google has announced that the first tablet to get Honeycomb 3.1 will indeed be the first tablet that got Honeycomb, the Motorola Xoom and Verizon also confirmed that Android 3.1 Honeycomb update is indeed rolling out to Motorola Xoom 3G (Verizon) tablets.
After upgrading to 3.1 Honeycomb OS, widgets can be customizable in terms of horizontal or vertical stretching. Existing widgets can also be upgraded. Motorola Xoom tablet will have the ability to act as a USB host which means you can pair gaming controllers, mice, keyboards, etc. with it, lets you import photos to your tablet directly from your digital camera, and take advantage of a number of USB devices, even including Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 controllers.. The update also brings Google Music Beta along with new video editing apps like "Movie Studio", Movies and Books apps etc. The update also enhances the browsing experience by making the browser more faster.
once the Motorola XOOM is updated to Android 3.1, thousands of movies will be up for rent from the Android Market through movie rental service and can be streamed or downloaded from the web. The movies can then be watched on the computer or on your Android devices. Rentals start at $1.99 a movie. Well, you can keep it for 30 days, but once you start watching it you will only have 24 hours to finish it.

Google has released the Android 3.1 update HMJ37 for Motorola Xoom 3G, and you can download it from here (hit the link) and update it manually. The update is weighing at the size of 28.8MB.
