As we reported earlier, Verizon’s second 4G LTE capable Samsung Droid Charge hit the stores today. There’s a mandatory software update available starting from today. Verizon has just started pushing out a new Android Software Update ED2. As soon as you finished installing this update, you will be stopped from downloading Media Hub items over 3G connection. Media Hub application works only when you are running under Big Red’ 4G LTE coverage (or Wi-Fi connection). No more updated features will be adding with the help of this update.
Verizon has noted that Droid Charge users will be notified about this update when in a 4G coverage area. After installing this update, Users will notice an improved overall performance of the handset and most of the issues related to lags also will be resolved hopefully.
The Verizon branded Samsung Droid Charge has been subjecting to heavy criticism due to its high price tag ($299), and also lacking some up-to-date hardware implements. Yes, it is lacking dual-core processor. But still Droid Charge offering a fairly attractive feature set, including the 4G LTE capability, a four-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 8 megapixel camera, 2GB onboard memory, and 1GHz processor.
How to get the Android Software Update ED2:
To install Over-the-Air update, Droid Charge users need to select “Menu” > “Settings” > “About Phone” > “Settings” > “System Updates” > and tap the “Check New” button –> Tap Press & Install –> Installation should start now.
As we can see that latest OTA software update is around 5MB in size, and it will take you less than 10 minutes to download and install the update.
