Earlier we have reported that Verizon will start rolling out the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Motorola Droid X handset starting May 27th. And now Verizon has made yet another announcement regarding the Gingerbread update for Droid X – the carrier will be releasing out the manual download of Gingerbread update for Motorola Droid X on June 1st, as confirmed by VZW employee at their Android Community forums. This must be vey helpful for the users, who can’t download the OTA update, and who prefers to download the update manually.
The Gingerbread update for Droid X will be treated as 4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US, which will bring several improvements – Download Manager App, Multi-Touch Key-Chording, new widgets, icons, and screens with refreshed colors, improvements for camera, calendar, App Groups, including a refreshed MotoBlur UI, improved word selection and copy functionality, and “improved battery life while using Bluetooth.” . Motorola Droid X users should start checking their phones starting this Friday through next Wednesday, (Settings>About>System Updates) to see the Gingerbread update (i.e. 4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US) notification on your display panel.
