RIM has only released a Wi-Fi only edition of BlackBerry PlayBook tablet until now, and the company has yet to launch Verizon branded LTE capable, as well as the Sprint branded 4G WiMAX capable PlayBook tablets, but there is a key differentiating factor here. Yes, we’ve already hearing the rumors about the sequel version of the original 7-inch PlayBook tablet, and according to the source, it will be called BlackBerry PlayBook 2.
The folks over N4BB blog have reporting that RIM is in preparation to manufacture a bigger 10-inch edition of the BB PlayBook, and this version will be having a 10-inch display with higher resolution than that of the original PlayBook, and a 4G radio under the hood. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, SIM card slot. And there would be no 3G edition of BlackBerry PlayBook 2. BlackBerry PlayBook 2 will be having thinner frame around the screen of the device, and users will be able to connect to BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Sever) without the support of BlackBerry Bridge. RIM will be updating QNX OS for this edition, and the update will include the calendar app, native email, and other new BlackBerry apps.
Price & Availability
There is no word on exact launch date, and the price of the BlackBerry PlayBook 2 tablet yet. But the source is claiming that RIM is planning to release its sequel to the BlackBerry PlayBook around the holidays this year in black and white colored versions.
