Great news for the owners of the Android 2.1 running Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 handsets. The long-awaited Gingerbread update, the latest flavor of Android OS. Sony Ericsson has officially announced that it will be rolling out the Gingerbread update to Xperia X10 handsets in the beginning of August month, and demonstrate the performance of Gingerbread update on a prototype Xperia X10 handset in a video.
The Sony Ericsson Product blog has noted that “Our developers have been working hard on this and the work has progressed well. Development and testing is still ongoing and the current plan is start the roll-out in the beginning of August”.
Changes To Take Place after Android 2.3 Gingerbread Upgrade On Xperia X10:
# Functionality will be included similar to those of products like Xperia arc and neo.
# Addition of Facebook inside Xperia features.
# Addition of pinch-to-zoom gesture, Wi-Fi & USB tethering capabilities.
# Same camera interface with face-detection and auto-focus.
# Capability of installation of apps on Micro-SD card.
# A customizable horizontal app tray, and the media experience widgets.
# NAd more features to be added.
Sadly, the Gingerbread upgrade won’t bring the DLNA functionality for Xperia X10, and has also confirmed that the unbranded Xperia X10s will be the first ones to receive the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini, Xperia mini pro and Xperia X8 handsets’ owners are still struggling with Android Eclair 2.1 version and Sony Ericsson has announced that these handsets won’t be upgraded to Gingerbread, as these handsets are having less RAM than the Xperia X10 handset. Check out the video after the break.

So now SonyEricsson is leaving it’s product xperia x10 mini and mini pro systems completely vulnerable to hacking? As google said, later versions of Android resolves the issue. Our company is considering suing SE for a faulty equipment (vulnerable to hacking) and everyone using this phone should fill a claim against SE.
That’s my opinion.
