The Wi-Fi Only edition of Motorola Xoom owners can now start renting the Google Movies from Android Market, and can get a hold of the app from today. Via its official Twitter account, Motorola has confirmed that ‘Google Movies for Android’ – Android Market Movie rental service is now available for Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi tablet too.
Sad news for rooted users who have installed a custom ROM on their Xoom tablets, as they won’t be able to rent these Google Movies on their tablets due to requirements related to copyright protection. Videos available for Android devices will be featured on the Android Market’s homepage, and there would also be a portal for the Movies section. Once rented, a movie can be watched on the web, and on your Xoom tablet. As soon as users downloaded their favorite films directly from Android Market and started playing a movie, there is a 30-day rental period and once started, users should complete watching it in 24 hours. Thousands of videos would be available through this amazing service, and there will surely be more to come in the future. This service also lets the users to store the movie locally for playback when offline. This service would be available, obviously, only for Xoom owners who were not rooted their devices. Prices of those movies will start as low as $1.99.
