Via its official Twitter account, the U.S. Cellular has confirmed that the Android Honeycomb powered Motorola Xoom is now for sale via the carrier’s stores in the U.S. This Wi-Fi only edition. The tablet will cost you $599.99, the same as when purchased via other carriers in the United States, and it has got the same 10.1-inch display and all other specifications. U.S. Cellular’s Motorola Xoom edition comes with pre-installed with the newly launched Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS (a major update to Android 3.0), which is Google’s operating system designed specifically for the larger screens of slates. The takers should apply for the $25 data plan.
Motorola Xoom will be having 800 x 1280 pixels resolution 10.1” capacitive touch display, a super fast 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor with 1GB RAM, 32GB of internal flash storage, as well as micro-SD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB, equipped with dual cameras – the rear-facing 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash is suitable for capturing digital photos and 720p HD videos and an additional 2 Megapixel front-facing camera, HDMI port, full host of Android Market and Google services, including 3D version of Google Maps, Google Talk with video chat. U.S. Cellular has also a set of accessories for Xoom including a $14.99 Targus Stylus pen.

In fact, the Xoom’s micro-SD card is currently not active but a future software, but a future firmware update will let the card slot to accept the memory cards. Motorola has recently started rolliing out the Androdi 3.1 update for Xoom tablets globally (but not the U.S.), and the update will be also activating the micro-SD slot. U.S. Cellular hasn’t clearly mentioned yet whether the micro-SD card slot will be active on its Xoom editions.
