Are you waiting for some Gingerbread flavor for your Motorola Atrix 4G (AT&T) handset? Motorola has officially started pushing the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Motorola Atrix 4G handsets, and it has dedicated a support webpage on its official website, providing the instructions to download the latest update, and you can also see what other features to be added along with the precious Gingerbread update. The Gingerbread update v4.5.91 can be downloaded both in OTA (Over-The-Air), and manual update operations. The updated version v4.5.91 is having many fixes over the previous leaks, as well as a set of new enhancements to the Motorola UI overlay, you can now install any APK you want, including the Amazon App store.
After installing the Gingerbread update, the Motorola Atrix 4G phone will be upgraded from Blur_Version.4.1.83.MB860.ATT.en.US to Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US.

Manual Download Process
You can upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS by downloading and installing the automated update tool or manual software update tool from the following links in Step 1 and Step 2.
Step 1
Download and install the Automated Update Software Tool (hit the link) on your PC and attach the Motorola Atrix 4G handset using USB cable. Now follow the on-screen instructions and finish the installation process,
Step 2
For manual installation, you’ll need to get the 161MB update through Manual Software Update Tool for Mac and PC (hit the link). Connect your handset to PC. Download the file save it as Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US on your SD card. Now follow the following instructions.
# Unplug the handset from PC or Mac.
# Go to Menu –> Settings –> select About Phone –> select System Upgrades –> select Copy –> Select Install Now –> Automatic Power-off –> and you can see the installation progress on your display now. Leave the handset for some time and do not interrupt the installation process until any process gets completed. That’s it. The phone will upgraded to Blur_Version.4.5.91.MB860.ATT.en.US.
OTA Update Process
Users can also download the OTA update. Users of the Motorola Atrix 4G handset will get see the notification messages on the display panels of their handsets. Then they need to connect to a Wi-Fi connection and now select Download –> Install Now –> Installation process starts –> Automatic Re-start –> Installation Completed –> Upgraded to 4.5.91 software version.
If the users are failed to get the upgrade notification message, they should check it manually. For this, you should have a proper Wi-Fi connection. Now you need to go to Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> System Update –> “Availability of an update” message pop-up –> select Download –> tap Install Now –> Automatic Re-start –> Done. The software version now should be shown as v4.5.91.

Followed the software update prompt on my Atrix [v4.5.91] and while I like some of the new features, MANY of my contacts (important ones) are gone. So frustrating, these are my customers! Missing on Google too!
Will it work if my atrix is not from AT&T? I ask this because I saw the file name containing ATT. Will it stop working? Hope you can answer me.
Don’t Do it! My music is messed up, it won’t let you change your notifications so It keeps ringing everytime I get mail with no way to shut it off that I can see. Lots of problems and I’d like to shoot whoever designed this stupid upgrade.
