A new rugged Android smartphone from Motorola to be called, the Motorola Admiral will hit the airwaves of the Sprint in the U.S. via the carrier’s new Direct Connect service. Thanks to a new leak, we now know some of the specs that this phone is going to sport.
According to a document sent from a tipster to Engadget, Motorola Admiral will be a Portrait QWERTY device featuring 3.1-inch VGA touchscreen display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 1.2GHz Qualcomm single-core MSM8655 processor, 5 megapixel rear camera with 720p HD video recording capability, 4GB of internal memory, microSD card support up to 32GB of external memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, Wi-Fi hotspot capability with support up to 5 additional Wi-Fi enabled devices, a 1860mAh battery, a rugged design which has been designed specifically to comply with the 810G military specifications to withstand extreme testing conditions like dust, shock, vibration, solar radiation, pressure and high temperatures.
Sprint will kick start the Direct Connect service with Admiral. If we go back in time, we first heard the name Motorola Admiral when we spotted its brand logo on one of the Sprint’s leaked documents back in the month of August. And now with this new leak suggesting the possible specs of the phone, we can say that the things are falling in line for the launch of the Admiral sometime later this fall.
