AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S II Gets Android 2.3.6 Update

Back on November 23rd, AT&T has rolled out the Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread update for its one of the first LTE capable Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket handset. AT&T is now also rolling out a new firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S II handset, bumping its Android software version to 2.3.6 from 2.3.4. The other features of the  of the new firmware update haven’t been provided by the carrier, but according to the reports, it is carrying a set of few bug fixes. Some users have reported that the update failed at first, but many users have installed it successfully.

This update fixes the Home screen button lag and security flaw.

AT&T has confirmed that rooted and bloatware removed Samsung Galaxy S II handsets won’t be upgraded to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread OS, but the good thing is that it will not brick your rotted SGS II handset.

As it is an OTA update, the owners of the AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S II handsets should be seeing the notification alerts on their home screen asking them to accept the update and download it. If the update hasn’t yet prompted you, you can manually perform the update process by heading over to Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> Software Update –> Check Now –> If the update available –> Accept it and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the upgrade process. After successfully finished the upgrading process, the handset’s new build number should be shown as GINGERBREAD.UCKK6.
