Heads up HTC EVO View 4G (Sprint’s version of the HTC Flyer) owners. Sprint has announced that it is rolling out a new software update for the 4G WiMAX capable HTC EVO View 4G tablet. Guess what? Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb it is! Yes, you can finally the taste of Honeycomb on your tablet now. Back in June, the tablet has been treated to Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread update. The new Android Ice Cream Sandwich would be nice on this tablet, but still a nice upgrade from Gingerbread. Along with Android 3.2.1 HC goodies, the new update will bring the new software version 2.23.651.1 and is also carrying the HTC’s Sense overlay, on-screen buttons, bug fixes and more. The full list of the big software update is as follows:
# A new virtual and holographic UI.
# Capacitive keys replaced with on screen Soft buttons.
# Addition of Google Search on every page.
# Bring Quick access to status, notifications.
# Addition of Soft Navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen.
# Notifications menu moved to the bottom right corner of the screen, on the System Bar.
# The Action Bar can be accessed by touching the Plus Sign icon at the top right of the screen.
# Addition of the Sprint Data Link and 3LM enhanced security.
# Fixes for Google Video Chat.
# Bluetooth capability in Airplane mode.

Personalized widgets and screen setup will be wiped out after completing the upgrade process and they need to be re-established.

If you’re the owner of the Sprint branded HTC View EVO 4G, you should be notified about the new software update. Or else you can force the update by Menu –> select Settings –> System Updates –> HTC Software Update > and hit Check Now button –> If you found the update, accept it to download –> Device will power off and a black screen with a green arrow will appear for some time –> Let the update finishes the process –> That’s it. Keep in mind that while checking for this software update, you will see a “Data fee warning screen”. Then you just need to tap the “Yes” button.
