If the new benchmarking reports are to be believed, Google and Samsung should be prepping to release an upgraded model of the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset very soon. A few months ago, Google has introduced the high-end spec’d Android ICS running Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset and it comes equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core chipset. According to the NenaMark banchmark report that can be seen in the above image, Galaxy Nexus is housing PowerVR SGX544 GPU, which is a confusing issue.
If you remember, the original Samsung Galaxy Nexus is powered by TI’s OMAP4460 with a SGX540 GPU. But, here we are seeing the PowerVR SGX544 GPU, which is the same GPU paired up with TI’s OMAP4470 processor from TI. Texas Instruments has introduced OMAP4470 chipset, and the manufacturer announced that the devices equipped with chipset would be arriving in the first half of 2012. The SGX544 graphics processor evidently delivers performance up to 2.5 times better, as opposed to its predecessor SGX540. According to the reports, the OMAP4470 CPU can also run at up to 1.8GHz.
As you all know, Sprint is releasing its 4G LTE capable slightly tweaked version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus handset, which is expected to be equipped with dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and the interested users can register for it on Google website.
