Yesterday, Motorola has confirmed that none of its devices will be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS build until at least April. Seriously, Motorola? Enough of this. Asus updated their timeline for software update last night, finally revealing its plans to push Ice Cream Sandwich. Asus Singapore on its Facebook page has confirmed that it will begin rolling out the Android 4.0 ICS update for its first-ever Asus Eee Pad Transformer tablet either this month or in March.
Asus has already rolled out the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its quad-core Transformer Prime tablet. The OG Asus Transformer was first supposed to get right after the Transformer Prime received its ICS goodies. Last month we heard that the update was in ‘being tested by Google’ phase and some inside sources has suggested for early February time frame. Now, Asus has once again postponed OTA update and failed to mention the real reasons behind its decision.
Here is the statement from Asus Singapore:
Dear fellow Asus members, we would like to say that we appreciate all the support we see in our Asus Facebook page every day. It makes our contributions worthwhile and fulfilling.
We are informed that the ICS upgrade for TF101 will be ready within the Feb/March 2012 period. You will be able to receive the upgrade notification via FOTA once we have a confirmation date.
We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Asus US has yet to announce its plans about the Android 4.0 ICs update roll out. Hopefully, we will hear some good news from Asus US, or else if would be better to reveal the actual release date/release week of update roll out for its concerned customers.
