We just a word that Toshiba has started rolling out a new firmware update for its Android OS powered Toshiba Thrive tablet. Hoping it is Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update? Unfortunately, it is not. The tablet still running Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. The new firmware update bumps the software version up to 3.2.1.31.5.0003 from 3.2.1.31.5.0002. It’s just a minor update weighing aroung 3.1MB of size. In addition to the version bump, you’re also getting:
# A bug fix update for optimizing functionality on select applications and utilities from Google and Toshiba.
# It also includes an update to Android market 3.4.4.

As usual, the new update 3.2.1.31.5.0003 is available in the Thrive’s “Service Station” app, which is an easy to use tool that manages your updates on the tablet and you won’t be seeing any notification alerts about the latest software update. To pull the update from the sky, you should hit the Thrive’s “Service Station” app and tap the ‘Check for Updates’ button on the left side panel of the app home screen. Then select the Thrive 3.1.01.5.00002 to 3.1.01.5.0003 System Image Update option on the right side panel, and follow the onscreen instructions to finish the upgrade process.
