It seems today is a big day for Google when it comes to Android app updates. We already reported about the Gmail app update that brings Ice Cream Sandwich features for Gingerbread OS powered tablets. A few hours ago, a solid Google Play Book update went live in Google Play Store for Android 2.2 Froyo and Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered devices. The update brings a new 3D interface, 3D page-turning animation, a homescreen shortcut available for a single book, and the screen stays on during text-to-speech.
The update also brings In-book search when off-line. That means you’ll now be able to search through the text of downloaded titles without needing to be online a the time.
