During its launch of the Windows Phone 8 lunch event, Microsoft showed off a sample diagram of the Samsung ATIV Odyssey handset for Verizon, along with other bunch of WP8 phones from Nokia and HTC. Later we’ve been handed the leaked press shot and possible technical specifications of this mid-range offering. But, the carrier has yet to officially announce about when exactly the device will arrive into the United States.
The high-end spec’d Samsun ATIV S handset is already available in some markets, including on all the wireless carriers of the Canada. Samsung Ativ Odyssey is the second WP8 handset from the South Korean manufacturer, and it expected to be released by the end of this month. The good folks over WPCentral have come up with a document (pictured at below) containing the full specs of the Ativ Odyssey, comparing it to the Nokia Lumia 822 and HTC Windows Phone 8X handsets, which are currently offering by Verizon Wireless in the US.
According to the doc, the device will have a 4” Super AMOLED 800 x 480 pixels display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM, 5MP camera on back side that is capable of recording 1080p HD videos, a front-facing 1.2MP shooter for 720p video calling, 8GB of native storage, 32GB memory expansion support via MicroSD card slot, LTE and global connectivity, NFC functionality, a 2,100mAh battery (each of the HTC 8X and Lumia 822 has 1800mAh battery) and dimensions wise, it measures 122 x 63 x 11 mm.
The source also says that Samsung will put the Ativ Odyssey on display at CES 2013 event next week. It has been already confirmed that the device will be offered for free on a two-year contract with Verizon.
