A couple of days ago, ZTE came to this year’s CES with only one handset news and took the covers off its newest Android phone, called ZTE Grand S. The company has confirmed the first quarter release of the phone for the Chinese markets, but there was no word on the U.S. availability. A reliable source is saying that the handset is indeed on its way to the United States in the near future. In a conversion with CNET, ZTE USA CEO Lixin Cheng suggested that the Grand S will be hitting the U.S. shelves later this year. But don’t get excited too quickly, as the company doesn’t mention any specific dates for bringing it to the U.S.
Grand S is the second Full High-Definition (FHD)smartphone from the manufacturer, and the full credit goes to its 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution on its 5-inch IPS display, while it is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-coe processor clocked at 1.7GHz. There’s an impressive 13-megapixel back camera, 1.7MP front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, a microSD card slot, and it will arrive running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS out of the box. ZTE hasn’t confirmed anything about potential software updates after its launch.
Unfortunately, ZTE has included a less-powerful 1780mAh battery for this beast. Interesting part is that the handset has been wrapped up in a frame that measures just 6.9mm thick.
The Chinese manufacturer is also rumored to announce the ZTE Nubia Z7 (as a successor to the Nubia Z5), which is expected to feature a massive 6.3-inch 2560×1440 pixels display, 8-core processor, Mali-T658 GPU, 16MP camera, LTE radio and 4000mAh battery, 128GB ROM, and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie OS. If you might recall, v4.2 Jelly Bean is the latest and greatest version of the Android OS that was launched by Google a couple of months ago.
Anyhow, Would you pick the ZTE Grand S?
