We have already known that Sony launched its 2013 flagship mobile device, the Sony Xperia Z smartphone powered by Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS at CES 2013 in Las Vegas. Just after Sony launched the smartphone, we found leaked specs of another Sony device, Xperia Tablet Z and the device is codenamed as “Pollux”. It was also claimed that the design of the tablet is similar to the Sony Xperia Z smartphone.
Now, Sony has announced Xperia Tablet Z in Japan. The device is packed with Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, an 8.1MP rear camera, a microSD slot to expand storage, NFC, LTE and more. The 10.1-inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution weighs around 495 grams and measures a 6.9mm thick in size.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z is powered by Google’s Android 4.1 mobile operating system. Other salient features of the tablet is it has Waterproof and Dustproof IP55/IP57 certification, Reality Display which enables the representation of high-brightness and high-definition video WUXGA display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, and a feature called S-Force Front Surround 3D that can bring movement and sound together to achieve a sense of spaciousness. The device will be available in White and Black color.
Recently on NTT DoCoMo website, a word regarding the announcement of this tablet on January 22 was listed and it is scheduled to be showcased in select DoCoMo stores between January 22 and January 27.
There is no word about the pricing details of the tablet although it is expected to be available in Japan tomorrow. If we have more info, we’ll keep you updated. Stay tuned.
