In Taiwan, the Asus FonePad tablet is already available for pre-order at a retail price of NT$8,990 (US$302) via Chunghwa Telecom. For UK regions, it will become available for pre-order at £179.99 (around $276) in via different online retailers such as Carphone Warehouse, Amazon, and Sainsbury’s. All the retailers will accept pre-orders for the device from Friday, April 12.
Coming to the availability, the Asus FonePad will be available for retail starting April 26. The pre-orders are also expected to be delivered on the same date.
It is worth mentioning that the Asus FonePad tablet was officially announced at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Spain. The device is packed with Intel Atom Z2420 processor which is clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and PowerVR SGX540 GPU. The device with a 7-inch display with IPS screen of 1280 x 800 resolution is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. The tablet weighing around 340g measures 196.4 x 120.1 x 10.4mm in dimension.
In terms of connectivity, the device supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, 3.5mm headphone jack and MicroUSB port. It features GPS with GLONASS, accelerometer, proximity, ambient light, and e-compass sensors. In order to power the tablet, Asus packs a 4270mAh battery.
The tablet was already got through the GCF certification which means that it can be used effectively on mobile networks anywhere in the world with no network compatibility issues.
The tablet is rumored to arrive in Malaysia sometime in May this year.
