At first glance, the vivo X Fold+ is a worthy successor with some meaningful improvements to the device. It doesn’t have any significant design changes, but there’s plenty new to be excited about with this foldable device.

The rear camera setup consists four sensors, which is same as before – Zeiss branded 50MP primary module (1/1.57” GN5 sensor, 1.0µm, f/1.75 OIS), 48MP ultra wide (114°) and two telephoto modules, one 12MP camera with a 47mm lens for portraits and one 8MP periscope camera with 5x magnification (and up to 60x digital zoom) and OIS. On front-side, it has a 16MP selfie camera placed in a center-aligned punch-hole at top of the display.
Under the hood, there is a brand new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 chipset, which claims to promise a 30% reduction in power use with 10% in increase in performance. The chipset is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Foldable phones are really amazing and exciting bringing us amazingly new form factor with vast potentiality to explore them as tiny laptops. So, 2022 foldable lineup from vivo looks almost identical to the 2021 foldable lineup. We have identical camera housings, color branding in the same ways, but a new color edition is introduced this year. The new colorway is called Huaxia Red and is covered in faux leather.
Maybe 2023 will bring us the big refresh with big improvements?
