Earlier this year, Samsung announced that they have been working to bring the Expert RAW support for a wider batch of Galaxy flagship phones. Samsung’s exclusive Expert RAW app has been available for the Galaxy S22 series and a few other Galaxy smartphones.
Finally, today Samsung started rolling out a new version of its Expert RAW app, which adds support for three former flagship phones – the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the Galaxy S20 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Fold2. Samsung also said that quality and processing times may vary as these listed handsets are older and can’t match the processing power of the current flagships.
Expert RAW lets you experience the advanced camera experience that brings more control over the shot and more information about what the cameras see than the typical built-in Samsung camera app shows. This app lets you to the app to shoot images with a wider dynamic range than the standard camera app.

* Please use it after the latest SW update distributed after September
A list of the added controls is – manual focus, ISO and shutter speed controls, and more. This app lets you capture shots in 16-bit RAW and you can edit those shots directly with Adobe Lightroom. The Expert RAW app requires at least a 2x optical zoom lens that supports “Bayer RAW,” so don’t expect this support to be available on much older devices. Samsung also announced that they are testing the ability to bring custom shutter speed, ISO, and preferences in the Hyperlapse video recording mode. The Galaxy S22 series might soon get Pro camera features in Hyperlapse mode.
