Along with the M2 powered new iPad Pro models, Apple also announced the new 10th gen iPad model. This is a new entry entry-level, budget-friendly iPad tablet, which comes with a new design and flat sides, and powered by A14 Bionic chipset.
The new 10th gen iPad model has 10.9-inch (2360x 1640 pixels) Liquid Retina True Tone display with 500 nits brightness, 264 PPI. If you remember, the 2021 iPad model was launched with a 10.2 inches screen. Inside, it is powered by 5nm A14 Bionic chip with a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Apple promises that A14 chip provides a 20 percent improvement in CPU performance and 10 percent improvement in graphics when compared to the 2021 model that has the 7nm A13 Bionic chip.
For the camera department, it has an updated landscape-oriented Ultra Wide 12MP f/2.4 front camera with 122-degree field of view with Smart HDR 3 support. On the rear, there is a 12MP f/1.8 AF main camera with 4K video recording capability.
Other specs are including 5G (optional), Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (That’s the faster Wi-Fi 6 standard which makes connections 30 percent faster), HT80 with MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. The entire device is backed up by a 28.6 Wh battery, which is suitable for lasting up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi-Fi. It also supports the first-gen Apple Pencil, and ships with Apple’s latest iPadOS 16 out of the box. iPadOS 16 comes with new features such as unsending or editing messages, a new productivity app called Freeform, and iCloud Shared Photo Library.
The 10.9-inch iPad tablet will sell in blue, pink, yellow, and silver, and in 64GB and 256GB models. Now available for pre-order on apple.com, while general availability kicks off on October 26th. Wi-Fi models start at $449 (Rs. 44,900), while the Wi-Fi + Cellular models start at $599. The current gen iPad is available for $329. That means the new 10th gen iPad is $120 costlier than the 2021 model. First-gen Apple Pencil costs $99/Rs. 9,500.
