Earlier this week, starting with the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S21 series, Samsung has released the January 2023 security patch onto a few more Galaxy phones. Now, it’s the Galaxy S22 getting the latest security patch from Samsung.
The January 2023 security update is now rolling out for the carrier unlocked version of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra phones in the United States on AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Xfinity Mobile, and Comcast networks.
The latest update for Galaxy S22 series comes with firmware version S90xU1UES2BVL4, and it fixes a bunch of security vulnerabilities. Samsung has mentioned over 50 “High” vulnerabilities are being addressed through this update.
It fixes a key vulnerability in NFC by adding proper usage of random private key API to prevent key exposure. It also fixes a Knox Service vulnerability regarding Permissions and Privileges. The Secure Folder container has got more restrictions through this update. Improper access control vulnerability in telecom application has been fixed. If you live in the US and haven’t received the update on your carrier-unlocked Galaxy S22 series smartphone yet, you can check for it manually by heading to its Settings > Software update menu.
