Google is now rolling out the latest Android 13 QPR 2 Beta 2 update for the Pixel 4a up through the Pixel 7/7 Pro phones with new firmware version T2B2.221216.006. The update brings more than just bug fixes. The QPR2 Beta 2 update has support for Unicode 15, which will bring 20 new emojis to Pixel devices that range from new animals to a handful of other characters.
20 New Emojis to Pixel Phones
Back in September 2022, Emojipedia Unicode 15, which brings a fresh batch of 31 emojis such as a shaking face, a jellyfish, a donkey, a moose, and many more. However, Pixel phones will have access to 20 emojis through this QPR 2 beta 2 update.
Pixel phones users running Android 13 QPR2 Beta 2, will be able to see the new emoji characters today. There is a small twist that these emojis do not appear in Gboard app yet, but can be used by copying/pasting. These emojis haven’t made their debut on most of the Android devices yet. So, if you send these emojis to your friends’ phones, they won’t be able to see the if they are not running the Android 13 QPR beta 2 on their phones.
Hints at How Pixel Tablet Work and Stylus work
Android 13 QPR2 Beta 3 is also hinting at how Pixel Table’s dock and stylus will work. Two unique features have been added for the Pixel table.
The Pixel Table will act as the center of your home by connecting to a charging dock and becomes a smart display. He also said that the Pixel Tablet will be termed as the first tablet to come with support for universal stylus. The tablet lets you use any compatible stylus pen on the Pixel tablet. The QPR2 beta 2 build has also been tested on both dock charging and stylus battery stylus. Pixel Tablet docking will have its own version of the Pixel line’s “adaptive charging” feature, which will apparently charge to an assumed 80%.
Work profile on Pixel devices has also got a new change. If you’ve taken a screenshot in this separate profile, it will be saved into a work profile-specific screenshot folder and not your regular folder.
After installing the QPR2 Beta 2 version, Pixel users will be seeing a new tutorial about Android 13’s “transient taskbar.” You can swipe up on your Pixel from the bottom, and then you will see this transient taskbar displaying Android’s suggested apps based on your using.
Tere’s also a new Shortcuts page in Settings > Display > Lock screen. Shortcuts page lets you customize the shortcuts that appear on your lock screen. According to Mishaal Rahman tweets, two default shortcuts include Google Wallet and QR Code scanner, while the camera app and flashlight shortcuts will be included in the future.too.
Google pushing this update over-the-air (Settings>System>System update), but if you don’t want to wait for Google and prefer to update manually, you will find each factory image or OTA file in this article.
