The Galaxy S23 series will be unveiled at an event on February 1 with a special version of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
Roland Quandt of WinFuture published an image of what appears to be marketing material for “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for Galaxy,” which is the customized chip that will be used on Samsung’s upcoming flagships. This chipset includes Galaxy branding, along with the modified Snapdragon logo.
Samsung’s custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 doesn’t have drastically different features than that of the original SD 8 Gen 2 SoC, but it does have a higher clock speed for delivering better performance. This customized chipset is said to be manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process rather than TSMC’s 4nm technology.

Samsung has always used a mix of Exynos (for the rest of the world) and Snapdragon chips (for US and China) for its Galaxy flagship phones for over a decade, but with the Galaxy S23 series, it’s going to be different. Samsung is set to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 globally for the Galaxy S23 phones. This modified “Snapdragon chipset for Galaxy” chipset is expected to exclusive to Samsung, and it is also expected to extend for next year with the Galaxy S24 flagship phones as well.
The tipster has also posted another image showing a comparison, giving us a side-by-side look at Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra phones.
The vanilla Galaxy S23 has the same 1,750 nit display, same cameras, same memory and storage allotments (128GB model is for vanilla Galaxy S23 only), and “Super Fast Charging 2.0,” as that of the Galaxy S23+ and S23 Ultra phones.
This comparison post has also confirmed the cameras for Galaxy S23 trio. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has the huge 200MP main camera, along with 12MP ultrawide, and a pair of 10MP telephoto shooters. It’s worth mentioning that the front-facing 40 MP camera from the previous-gen Galaxy S22 Ultra is downgraded to just 12MP on the S23 Ultra model. Based on the recent leak, this is an improved 12MP camera with the new ISOCELL sensor.
