The Realme GT Neo 5 won’t launch on a global scale until the next few weeks. Before we get to that moment, Realme has gone ahead and revealed its newest flagship series in the home market of China, confirming details, prices, and release info for those who have been patiently waiting for this phone. This is the first big phone release from Realme for this year. It will be offered in two versions – with different charging speeds, but with the same processor inside.
The Realme GT Neo 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and features a 6.74″ 1.5K AMOLED screen from Tianma, carrying 144Hz refresh rate and 2772×1240 pixels of resolution. It also has 2160Hz ultra-high frequency PWM dimming, up to 1400 nits brightness and a 2.31mm ultra-narrow chin.
You’ll find 8GB or 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, 512GB or 256GB or 1TB UFS3.1 storage, Bluetooth 5.3, WiFi 7, in-display fingerprint sensor, support for Spatial Audio, and an Alert Slider. There’s a 5000mAh battery with 80W wired fast charging (1% to 100% in 27 minutes), but no wireless charging. The 80W charger is included in the box, though.
Although photography has never been an area of expertise for Realme, the Chinese company has come up with a decent camera system for the device. The large camera in the Realme GT Neo 5 is with new sensors. You get a main 50MP IMX890 sensor with OIS, which was the same sensor used in this year’s flagship phones such as OnePlus 11, Xiaomi 13.
The main camera will be paired up with 8MP IMX355 112° super wide angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture that can shoot macros, and a 2MP GC02M microscope lens with f/3.3 aperture, LED flash. We’ve got 4K video suport@30/60fps, 1080p HD video support at 30fps, movie mode, video blur, slow motion, time-lapse photography, multi-view video, night scene video, HDR video, tilt-shift time-lapse. The selfie camera is a 16MP shooter with Samsung S5K3P9 sensor, and F/2.45 aperture.
As we said above, there are two models, one with a 4600mAh with 240W fast charging, making it the fastest charging rate supported by the USB Type C port. The company claims the device can charge from 1 percent battery to 20 percent in just 80 seconds of charging. They are also promising 2 hours of talk time with 30 seconds of charge. Another one with a large 5000mAh battery version which packs 150W wired charging speeds that can charge up to 100% in 16 minutes.
