Every year the Chinese manufacturer launches at least three lines of smartphones within its Xiaomi brand, a vanilla model and a Pro model, as well as a Lite model. Seeing that the Xiaomi 13 series was already announced for China back in December 2022, the phones are going global now. The Chinese brand officially launched the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro for international markets at MWC in Barcelona. Both phones are with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets and Leica branding cameras will be sold in global markets.
The top-tier of the series, the Xiaomi 13 Pro comes packed in a Gorilla Glass Victus with an aluminum frame, and a good-looking camera module with Leica branding at the rear. Like all the recent Android biggies, both the Xiaomi and Xiaomi 13 Pro phones are running on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship processor, which helps to gain 35% higher performance than the previous generation Xiaomi flagship phones. The chipset is paired up with 8 or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and speedy 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. It’s worth mentioning that both phones’ base 128GB model has UFS 3.1 chip.
Xiaomi 13 Pro has a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 1440p resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports Dolby Vision, and it pushes its brightness level to 1900 nits (peak) under challenging conditions. Xiaomi 13, on the other hands, comes with a 6.36-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, and up to 1,900 nits advertised maximum brightness.
The strongest selling point of the Xiaomi 13 Pro – its smart camera is tuned by Leica-branded camera system, and there’s a 23mm 50MP 1”-type sensor Sony IMX989 is paired with HyperOIS, the 75mm 50MP telephoto camera has 3x zoom reach with a floating lens, and the 14mm 50MP ultrawide has macro support and brings AF. The device can simulate the looks of classic 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 90mm focal lengths. You can record 8K and 4K 60fps Dolby Vision videos.
Xiaomi 13 also has Leica branded camera system on the back with a 23mm 50MP primary camera with Sony IMX800 sensor and OIS, a 3x telephoto camera with a 75mm 10MP sensor and OIS, and a 15mm 12MP ultrawide sensor. Both phones have 32MP f/2.0 89.6° FOV front-facing camera.
The Xiaomi 13 has 4,500 battery 67W wired charging, while the 13 Pro has 4820mAh battery bumping up the charging speeds up to 120W. Both phones also support 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless charging. Remaining specs are including Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers, IP68 official rating, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and an Infrared port.

Both phones run the latest Android 13 with MIUI 14 on top. Xiaomi pledges to provide 3 major OS updates, along with 5 years of security patches. Furthermore, the buyers of these mobiles will get 2TB of Google One storage for six months and YouTube Premium access for the same duration for free.
The Xiaomi 13 series go on sale starting March 8 in three colors – Black, White, and Floral Green. Xiaomi 13 Pro will also be available from March 8 in Ceramic Black or Ceramic White. Early buyers in Europe will get a Xiaomi Instant Photo Printer 1S bundled with their purchase. Xiaomi 13 Pro costs €1,300 for the 12/256GB model, while the 8/256GB version of Xiaomi 13 can be grabbed for €1000.
