Samsung has recently released the latest version of One UI to two additional mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A71 5G. After successfully releasing the One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy A51, A52, and A53, the company is now rolling out this update to the Galaxy A71 in Europe and the Galaxy A71 5G in Asia.
As a reminder, Samsung released the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A71 5G in early 2020, both running Android 10. In early 2021, these smartphones received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update, followed by the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update later that same year. Finally, in late 2022, they received their final major Android OS update, Android 13 based One UI 5.0 update.
Samsung has released the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy A71, which includes firmware version A715FXXU8DWB5. The update is currently available in Poland, with other European countries set to receive it in the coming days. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A71 5G is also receiving the One UI 5.1 update, with firmware version A716BXXU7FWB6.
Samsung has not provided a specific timeline for the release of the One UI 5.1 update for the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A71 5G in other countries. However, based on past patterns, it is likely that users in other regions can expect to receive the update in the near future. Samsung typically releases updates in stages, with some regions getting the update earlier than others.
For those who reside in the aforementioned countries and are using either the Galaxy A71 or Galaxy A71 5G, the One UI 5.1 update is now available for download and installation. To update your device, simply head to the Settings app and tap on the Software update option. If the update is available for your device, you will see a prompt to download and install it. The update is expected to bring a range of new features and enhancements, including improved performance, updated security patches, and a refreshed user interface.
One of the key features of the One UI 5.1 update is the improved search quality of the Gallery app. With this update, users can now search for multiple people or subjects simultaneously, making it easier to find specific photos or videos. Additionally, the update includes a new feature that allows users to swipe up on an image or video to view or edit its EXIF files.
While the Galaxy A71 benefits from improved image remastering and Shared Family Albums with the One UI 5.1 update, the Galaxy A71 5G unfortunately does not receive these features. It’s worth noting that Samsung may roll out these features to the Galaxy A71 5G in a future update, but there is no official confirmation yet.
The One UI 5.1 update brings a range of new features to both the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A71 5G. One notable addition is the ability to maximize or minimize apps by dragging their window corners. Split-screen multitasking has also been improved, with frequently used apps now shown first in this mode.
The Modes and Routines app has been enhanced with new features and conditions, including font style, Quick Share, wallpaper, and touch sensitivity settings. Meanwhile, the Weather app has been revamped to display all the essential information in the first fold, along with an hourly precipitation graph and a new dynamic weather widget.
Another addition in the One UI 5.1 update is the battery widget, which displays the battery charge level of the phone and any connected devices. With these new features and improvements, users of the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A71 5G can enjoy a more efficient and user-friendly experience.
