Google’s mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 6a, is expected to be replaced by a newer model, the Pixel 7a, which is rumored to have a 90Hz display. This new feature will make it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers who want a complete Google experience. The device is expected to make its debut on May 10th during the Google I/O 2023 event, and ahead of this launch date, it has cleared Bluetooth SIG certification. This development suggests that the smartphone may be available for purchase shortly after it is officially unveiled.
As per the usual with certification processes, the Bluetooth SIG certification for the Pixel 7a does not reveal much information about the device’s hardware specifications. However, it does confirm that the device will feature Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, which is a step up from the Bluetooth 5.2 support found on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. However, the practical improvements of Bluetooth 5.3 are unlikely to have a significant impact on most Pixel fans.
The documentation also confirmed that Google’s upcoming Pixel smartphone will be available in four distinct model numbers: G0DZQ, GWKK3, GHL1X, and G82U8.
Thankfully, we’ve already had the opportunity to take a look at some hands-on images, renders of the upcoming Pixel 7a, and a few key specifications have already been revealed. This mid-range smartphone from Google is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 1080 x 2400 pixel resolution, and a refresh rate of 90Hz.
It’s also rumored to come equipped with a Google Tensor G2 chipset, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM (which is a significant upgrade from last year’s Pixel 6a that had 6GB of RAM), and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
In addition, the device is likely to feature a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 12-megapixel main sensor and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. Up the front, it is expectedto tradea 10.8MP selfie camera. The Pixel 7a is expected to run on Android 13, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. Additionally, there are rumors that it may come with support for 5W wireless charging.
These leaked details suggest that the Pixel 7a will be a significant upgrade over its predecessor and should appeal to budget-conscious consumers who value high-performance devices.
