Ice Universe, a well-known leaker with a passion for small bezels, has shared some interesting news about the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro. Apple had previously claimed that the device would have record-breaking bezels that would be a mere 1.55mm (0.061 inches) in thickness. However, according to IU, this may not hold true for long. This latest report could potentially shift the focus away from the iPhone 15 Pro and towards the company’s own devices.
According to Ice Universe, ChinaStar, a prominent display manufacturer, has managed to produce a new display with even smaller bezels than the iPhone 15 Pro. Reportedly, these bezels measure only 1mm (0.0394 inches) in thickness. If true, this development could potentially outshine Apple’s highly anticipated device in terms of bezel thickness.
Ice Universe has not revealed which phone will be the first to feature the new ultra-thin bezels, but it’s speculated that they may appear on the upcoming Xiaomi 14 smartphone. This is based on the fact that Xiaomi has already used ChinaStar displays on the Xiaomi 13 series, which currently holds the record for the smallest bezels at 1.81mm (0.0713 inches). Therefore, it would make sense for Xiaomi to continue to work with ChinaStar and use their latest technology in their upcoming device.
Alternatively, it’s also possible that the new bezels will feature on a TCL phone, as TCL owns ChinaStar. This would make sense given that TCL has been expanding its presence in the smartphone market and has already produced devices with impressively thin bezels.
The new ultra-thin bezels produced by ChinaStar represent a significant improvement over current technology, with a 64 percent reduction in bezel size compared to the current record holder, the Xiaomi 13. The Xiaomi 13 is an Android flagship smartphone that features a display with bezels measuring 1.81mm, which is currently the smallest bezel size available on a smartphone.
Good news!China star will mass-produce 1mm extremely narrow bezel screen,The four bezel are all 1mm, which will surpass the record of 1.55mm of iPhone 15 pro. I probably already know which phone it is used for. I am looking forward to it! Guess which mobile phone will be…

Bezels can have a significant impact on the user experience of a smartphone, as they determine the amount of usable display space available on the device. The thinner the bezels, the larger the effective display area is, even if the physical display dimensions remain the same. This means that a smartphone with ultra-thin bezels can provide a more immersive and visually appealing experience compared to one with thicker bezels, as it allows for more content to be displayed on the screen.
In addition to improving the visual experience, thinner bezels can also make the device more ergonomic and easier to use. With less space dedicated to bezels, the device can be made smaller and more compact while still maintaining a large display, making it more comfortable to hold and use with one hand.
Apart from the rumored thin bezels, the upcoming iPhone 15 series, especially the Pro models, is expected to come with various display updates. The bezels may have a slightly curved design to match the rumored curved back of the phone. The display driver is also expected to be more efficient, which could result in longer battery life. Moreover, the display itself is rumored to be brighter than any other smartphone display currently available in the market.
Additionally, the regular iPhone 15 models are speculated to feature Dynamic Island cutouts with integrated proximity sensors, representing a significant design upgrade from its predecessors. Therefore, even if the Pro models do not have the thinnest display borders for long, there are still several other display features to look forward to in the upcoming iPhone 15 series.
The iPhone 15 series is slated for release in September, and only time will tell if it does indeed have the smallest bezels in the market. Overall, it remains to be seen whether ChinaStar’s new display will actually live up to the hype, or whether the iPhone 15 Pro will still reign supreme in terms of bezel thickness.
